Born in Streatham, England Naomi is of Caribbean and Chinese decent.  She was discovered at the age of 15, while still a student at the Italia Conti Academy, Campbell was spotted while window-shopping with friends in Covent Garden.  Naomi opted to become a fulltime model.

Soon after she had the entire fashion world clamouring to capture her inimitable look. Living out the dream so many wish for, Naomi’s enduring career in the highly pressurized and demanding fashion industry has become the benchmark of true success.  Being English, Naomi continues to bring visibility for British fashion onto a global scale.

EARLY LIFE

At age 15 in April 1986, Campbell appeared on the cover of Elle, replacing a model who had cancelled out of the appearance.

In August 1988, she appeared on the cover of Vogue Paris as that publication's first black cover girl, after friend and mentor, Yves St. Laurent, threatened to withdraw all of his advertising from the publication after it refused to place Campbell, or any black model, on its cover. In addition to Vogue Paris, Campbell also became the first black model to appear on the cover of Vogue UK , Vogue Nippon, Time magazine and later Vogue China.

The high point of Campbell's career was in the early 1990s, when she was part of the two major "supermodel" powerhouses: the Big Six, alongside Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Kate Moss, and The Trinity, alongside Turlington and Evangelista.

Ten years later, she is still appearing in hits with a feature in the No.1 charted "Nasty Girl," the Notorious B.I.G. tribute video with P. Diddy, Nelly, Jagged Edge and Avery Storm.

Embraced by fashion's greatest, Naomi has worked with top photographers including Patrick DeMarchelier, Steven Meisel, Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts, Ellen von Unwerth, Mario Testino, Helmut Newton, Seb Janiak, Steven Klein and Peter Lindbergh. She has been the centerpiece of award winning ad campaigns for Versace, Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana and many more. Recently, she shot a prestigious campaign for Louis Vuitton and this year she was made the face of Yves St Laurent.

Growing up immersed in the fashion world as she was, it comes as no surprise that her mentors and closest friends are legendary designers including Azzedine Alaia, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood (despite her notorious fall off the catwalk in sky high platforms), Marc Jacobs and the late Gianni Versace. Naomi's fiery personality, energy and spirit for life that emanates from her makes her walk on the runway a designer's dream and a muse to so many. Twenty years later, she still plays a large role in New York, Paris, Milan and London's Fashion Weeks.

PERFUMES

As skilled businesswoman and entrepreneur, Naomi launched the first ever celebrity perfume in 2000. She has since launched with Procter & Gamble ten highly successful fragrances: in 2000 Naomi Campbell and Naomagic; in 2001, Campbell introduced her third perfume, Cat Deluxe, and in 2003 released Mystery.  A year later a fifth fragrance was made, Sunset, and in 2005 another fragrance was released, Paradise Passion. Campbell's latest fragrance is a new version of her Cat Deluxe perfume called Cat Deluxe at Night.

Her commitment is such that Naomi gets involved at every stage of her fragrances’ creation and promotion. In March 2007, Naomi was acknowledged the prestigious FiFi award in Berlin, for her achievements in the fragrance industry.

CREATIVE VENTURES

Naomi continues to channel her interests and talents into a wide range of creative venture and she graced the cover of UK GQ magazine in April 2007, which was awarded cover of the year.  She is also become a contributing editor for the prominent magazine interviewing high profile individuals including Lewis Hamilton, Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela and Christina Kirchner, President of Argentina.

CHARITY

Campbell has always been involved in charity work.  She has worked with Nelson Mandela.
In 2005, she helped create and participated in Fashion Relief, raising over a million dollars for Hurricane Katrina victims. On 7 July 2007 she hosted the South African leg of Live Earth in Johannesburg. In 2007, 2008 and 2009 Naomi has held her Fashion For Relief charity shows in various countries.

Naomi’s work takes her around the globe and she is constantly on the go with editorial and ad shoots, fashion shows and charity work. She is currently organising her next Fashion For Relief charity event.
